Do men go tongue-tied about emotions? Not so, if Triscel the novel new wide-ranging work in multimedia - a poetical work using film, digital artistry, and online writing with the aim of reaching deeper into all aspects of our personality - is to be credited. Father, feminist and outspoken advocate of gay rights -

Dafydd ap Ffransis Meilir is no fading violet, nor yet a withdrawn man of few words, but a hefty broth of a fella. Alongside his activities in the worlds of art and media he has qualifications as a gymn weights instructor, and, although now elderly and disabled, he through his nearly eighty years has always been happiest out in the waves in a wetsuit.

Yet his work Triscel is all about motherhood, and what each of our lives gains from being mothered into a truer birthing which lasts lifelong.

Dafydd is a poet, established scriptwriter and pioneer in TV and multimedia.  Together with his wife in second marriage, he parents an immediate family of twenty-nine, and he writes with passion humour and tears, and in very male metaphor, about loving them realistically but totally.

At the end of his highly meditative work, he even figures tenderness, empathy and compassion as pointing the way to further evolution in the human species, and as its most humane achievement. His poems he names "of Love and Death" calling twelve great poets from antiquity till the twentieth century as witnesses to the huge tempestuous processes of delight and grief, disappointment and self-transcendence, loss and caring.

He quotes new science to show it as one which can even encompass longing love for a stone age boy. It opens towards motherland and Mother Earth, mother culture and history, and without illusion can cherish the whole human race as Self - all as that necessary place bound to be focus for the outpouring heart.

... Mother more than father must a man be

when each longed tender touch has this intensity

Although again and again he returns to Vergil's epic words "of arms and of the man I sing" and often uses erotic, male and very physical vocabulary to frame his theme, the armament and resource he challenges modern male men and newly liberated women to consider more deeply is motherhood itself.

The tenderness sourced from human mothering is something very different from old confinement to home and hearth, a force and resource instead requiring that men and women must differently find the depths taught in mothering in their duty to an unfolding world of awareness reaching far beyond simple individuality.

He quotes new science to show that the empathy growing and burgeoning in us as can even encompass - for instance - a pitying longing love for a stone age boy. It stretches wide.

Tenderness also  opens towards motherland and Mother Earth, mother culture and history, and without illusion can cherish the whole human race as Self - all as a necessary “place”, bound to be focus for the outpouring heart. A new consciousness.
